Why did you become a peer mentor?
I chose to become a peer mentor because of understanding the difficulties that comes with sustaining a spinal cord injury. Connecting with peers who shared similar experiences as a wheelchair user helped me gain confidence in myself and reach my goals. Becoming a peer mentor is something I
cherish because it involves building relationships and learning from each other’s
experiences. It also helps towards being creative and finding other ways of
adapting and learning skills to practice.
